The first choice you will make in Cyberpunk 2077 is to decide your character’s life path. This will influence certain dialogue options throughout the game and even offer a few exclusive quests based on your chosen life path. This guide is for the first mission you get after choosing the Nomad Life path. The Nomad is the title of the starting mission for the said Life Path in Cyberpunk 2077. This Walkthrough will guide you through all the choices and objectives in this mission.
Mission Info: Yo, V, every story’s gotta start somewhere, right? Even if it means that “somewhere” is in the middle of nowhere and the most nova place to hang is a dusty-ass fuel stop. You abandoned your nomad family to come find the dude who hired you, to smuggle something for him ‘cross the border. This guy will change your life, chica.
The Nomad Walkthrough
You will start the game in a mechanic’s workshop in the Badlands with V staring into a mirror. V rips off the Clan’s patch from their jacket to establish that you are no longer associated with that clan. Look around to find a shard that contains some lore about the background of the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
Fix your Car
Talk to the mechanic to get your car fixed. The dialogue choices here do not have any impact on the main story of the game so feel free to choose whichever choice seems best to you. Once you manage to get your car started, the sheriff will come in and start pestering you. The Dialogue choices here also do not have any consequences and you can simply drive out of the garage once the sheriff pipes down.
Tip: After exiting the mechanic’s workshop, you can go back into the mechanic’s office from the front to find 100 credits in a drawer on his desk.
Go to the Telecom Tower
Now drive your car to the telecom tower marked by the main mission objective on your minimap. Exit the car and kick open the door to climb the telecom tower. Get to the top of the tower and interact with the radio box. This will trigger a dialogue with a former colleague named McCoy. He will fill you in on the details of your contact and his location. Climb down the tower and get back in your car. You might also find some interesting stuff if you look around.
Meet With Jackie Wells
Once back in your car, head to the new waypoint. Your contact which happens to be Jackie Wells is waiting for you in a lone trailer. Talk to Jackie and look around to find some spare cash in the trailer. Next load up the cargo in your car and get into the driver seat. Drive with Jackie to the border and until you arrive at the next objective.
Go Through the Checkpoint
Once you approach the security checkpoint, Jackie will have a few things to say. Engage in the dialogue and he will hand you some documents and a credit chip with the bribe money for the customs. Grab the chip and head inside the customs building.
You will need to deposit your weapon before heading in. Next head into room 2 to have a chat with the customs officer. The customs officer will probe you about the cargo and your Nomad clan. You can give him the chip with the bribe money and he will cover it with the declaration document. Whatever option you choose here will not affect how the rest of the mission plays out.
Once the interview is done, you can exit the room and grab your weapon on your way out. Now go back to the car and you will be able to discuss the situation with Jackie.
Escape the Pursuit
After exiting the customs building you will be prompted to get into the passenger seat with Jackie taking the wheel. V tells Jackie to keep driving as both of them feel like something is off. This turns out to be one hell of a hunch as soon a bunch of Corpo cars will be on your tail.
Draw your weapon and start shooting the cars chasing you. You can either aim for the enemies or the cars. We recommend aiming for the hoods of the cars as it will be easier to destroy them while moving. If your health drops low, you can heal by using any consumables you have.
Eventually, Jackie will pull over into an abandoned garage and the pursuit will be over.
Talk to Your New Best Choom
After escaping the pursuers, you will talk with Jackie about the recent events. You can choose your tone through the dialogue options here but we recommend being nice to him. And why not Jackie is a standup guy even though he wasn’t planning on paying you. Jackie offers to help you make it in the Night City and pay you once he gets his scrap.
After a series of more dialogue, kick back and enjoy the montage clip that shows Jackie fulfilling his promise and becoming your new partner in crime in Night City, literally.
