Best Spirit Ashes in Elden ring

Here is Your Easy Mode!

Elden Ring is often hailed as one of the most challenging games in recent history. It has also faced criticism for a lack of difficulty settings. However, the developers at Fromsoftware Have designed several mechanics in the game to help you through these challenges. These mechanics are now of even more significance with the release of the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree and its increased difficulty. One such mechanic is the ability to summon NPCs to fight alongside you as Spirit Ashes. There are several Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring that you can find – some more easily than the others. This list includes information on the 10 best Spirit Ashes in the Elden Ring and how to acquire them.

Top 10 Best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

We have listed down the 10 best spirit ashes in the Elden Ring based on their usefulness in boss fights. Some spirit ashes are more useful against regular enemies such as the Lone Wolf which will not be included in this list. We will also specify the requirements and FP costs for each of these summons.

10. Spirit Jellyfish

FP Cost: 31

Spirit jellyfish is one of the 2 spirit summons you can get at the beginning of the game. Despite seeming like a weak adorable creature, The Jellyfish can cause some serious harm to bosses. It does not do a lot of damage per hit but it can use ranged attacks which will cause poison build up in the bosses and have their health constantly depleting while you can deliver the finishing blows yourself. The Spirit Jellyfish is the only beginner summon with a sizably large HP pool. That along with its poison attacks makes it the best choice for the first few bosses of the game.

However, it will not be very efficient against the mid-game bosses and you will have to replace it eventually. You will eventually come across a small side quest involving this Spirit Ash in the later part of the game.

How to Get Spirit Jellyfish

You will get the Spirit Jellyfish from Roderika at the Stormhill Shack. Simply talk to her and exhaust all her dialogue and she will give you the Spirit Jellyfish Summon.

9. Skeletal Militiamen

FP Cost: 44

You can summon 2 skeletal fighters to aid you in combat. The Skeletal Militiamen are not too impressive on their own but they have the unique ability to resurrect after getting destroyed. This makes them pretty handy as summons go in Elden Ring. They are great for keeping the enemy busy during longer boss fights while you can deal the damage.

How to Get Skeletal Militiamen

You get the Skeletal Militiamen Spirit Ashes by defeating the Tibia Mariner boss at Summonwater Village in east Limgrave.

8. Latenna the Albinauric

Top 10 Best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

FP Cost: 74

Latenna is an Albinauric warrior who will assist you in battle as a ranged attacker. She attacks with rapid-fire arrows and can deal considerable damage to enemies. However, she is paralyzed and can’t move around on her own, making her an easy target. You can always place her in a safe spot and keep the boss’s aggression on yourself but she shines when there are random wolves around. She will tame one of the wolves and use it as a mount to move around.

How to Get Latenna the Albinauric

You can find Latenna in a hut in southern Liurnia. You can access that area by clearing the Lakeside Crystal Cave. Once you meet her, she will be skeptical of your intentions but keep talking to her and exhaust her dialogue. She will eventually volunteer to accompany you as her Spirit Ashes.

7. Battlemage Hugues

FP Cost: 122

Battlemage Hugues is one of the better Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring for Melee builds. He will assist you with long-range magical attacks but can also hold his own in close quarters. Hugues can attack with Glintstone Shard, cannon of Haima, and Gavel of Haima. All of these can deal decent damage to specific enemies.

How to get Battlemage Hugues

You can get these Spirit Ashes by defeating a boss in the Caelid region of the Elden Ring. The boss fight is located in Sellia Evergaol south of the Dragonbarrow West Site of Grace.

6. Lhutel the Headless

FP Cost: 104

Lhutel is a headless spirit summon in Elden Ring that can dish out a mix of ranged and close-quarter melee attacks. Lhutel is a Tank and also has the impressive ability to teleport allowing her to instantly close the distance between her and the enemy. On top of all this, Lhutel can also apply Death Blight build up causing instant death for some enemies. Lhutel is without a doubt one of the best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring. The only reason she is this low on out list is because some enemies are immune to Death Blight and even when it works, it makes the game way less interesting. Our criteria for a good spirit ash is it should make the fight easier but not take the fun out of it.

How to Get Lhutel the Headless

You can obtain the spirit ashes for Lhutel the Headless by defeating the Cemetery Shade boss at the end of Tombsward Catacombs in Limgrave.

5. Banished Knight Oleg

Top 10 Best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

FP Cost: 100

If you have played through Castle Sol, you know how nasty Banished Knights can be. Luckily you can find a spirit summon for Banished Knight Oleg to fight as your ally. Oleg is one of the most aggressive spirit ashes in Elden Ring. He will keep the boss’s aggro and give you breathing room to do your thing. Banished Knight Oleg uses 2 swords to deal melee damage as well as a whirlwind attack to do AOE damage. He has a decent HP pool to stick around for most of the fight making him a good tank and support player.

How to Get Banished Knight Oleg

4. Bloodhound Knight Floh

FP Cost: 95

Bloodhound Knight Floh is one of the most aggressive Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring. He is in fact the second-best spirit summon for you if you are running a Bleed Build. Floh attacks furiously and constantly and can build up heavy Blood Loss to inflict massive damage to the boss. However, this is very situational as Floh has quite a small health Pool forcing you to be the more aggressive one. This Summon also fails to achieve any results if the enemy is resistant to Bleed.

How to Get Bloodhound Knight Floh

To get your hands on the Spirit Ashes for Bloodhound Knight Floh, you need to go to Gelmir Hero’s Grave and defeat the boss of this Dungeon – The Red Wolf of the Champion.

3. Black Knife Tiche

FP Cost: 132

Black Knight Tiche is one of the best Spirit Ashes you can find in Elden Ring and she is ranked in our Top 3 for a reason. Black Knife Tiche can perform Quick strikes imbued with Black Flame to cause Damage Over Time. This makes her a great pick for Boss Fights. She has a relatively small Health Pool but her swift reflexes allow her to stay standing for most of the fight. She is also immune to status effects and her ability to stun and deal massive DOT makes her one of the most overpowered summons in the game.

How to Get Black Knife Tiche

Black Knife Tiche is a late game spirit ash that can be found in an optional area called Moonlight Alter only accessible after completing Ranni’s Questline. You can obtainher spirit ashes after defeating the Boss Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader in Ringleader’s Evergaol.

2. Dung Eater Puppet

Top 10 Best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring

FP Cost: 118

Have you come across the charming red fellow in the room behind the Twin Maiden Husk in Roundtable hold? The one who threatens to kill you and defile your corpse? Yep, that’s the one. Dungeater, for one reason or the other, is one of the most memorable NPCs in Elden Ring. He is also featured in the opening cinematic of the game. Luckily you can enlist this pleasant serial killer to join your fight in the Lands Between. Despite the appearance, Dungeater is actually pretty strong and one of the best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring. He is an excellent pick for all the Bleed build players due to his ability to cause Blood Loss and ranged attacks.

How to Get Dungeater

To get the spirit ashes for Dungeater, you need to progress his questline by talking to him in the Roundtable Hold. Later on he will ask you to bring him 5x Seabed Curses. If you have not yet completed Ranni’s Quest and Seluvis is still alive, you can give him the Seluvis’s potion. Later you can return to Seluvis’s Rise to purchase his Spirit Ashes from Seluvis.

However, doing this will lock you out of one of the endings for the game.

1. Mimic Tear

HP Cost: 660

Prepare for trouble, and make it Double! Mimic Tear is the undisputed best Spirit Ash in Elden Ring. Using a part of your HP instead of FP, you can essentially summon a Shadow Clone of yourself. It will copy your exact build and equipment and might even surprise you with some of the stuff you did not know you could do. Mimic Tear can drastically reduce the difficulty of any boss fight. Even after being nerfed in the later patches, Mimic Tear maintains its position on top of all the best Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring.

How to Get Mimic Tear

To get the Mimic tea as a spirit summon in Elden Ring, you must progress Ranni’s questline until you reach Nokron, the Eternal City. Here you must defeat Mimic Tear in a boss fight. Then you must find a Temple near the Night’s Sacred Ground site of grace. Here you can use a Stonesword key to access a locked chest to find the Mimic Tear Spirit Ashes.
