Baldur’s Gate 3

This entry is a dream come true for all Dungeons and Dragons fans, as it serves a classic rendition of the DnD gameplay with a side of rich and smooth cinematics with extraordinary voice acting. The game is never the same for any 2 players as is the case with most DnD campaigns, giving it exponential replayability. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a bunch of branching paths for the story to make your character feel more connected to the world it creates.

The game was almost unanimously well-received and even won the Game of The Year award for 2023.

Now with Patch 2.0 and 2.1 Cyberpunk 2077 has become one of the best story mode games ever made with overhauled perks and weapons systems and an impeccable gameplay experience.

CDPR doubled down with the Phantom Liberty expansion which features one of the best story campaigns in any DLC expansion. The Phantom Liberty has standalone 13 missions apart from all the new side content that was added.

Hogwarts Legacy was released in February of 2023 but had been one of the most anticipated video games ever since its announcement. It would be no lie to say that this game was a dream come true for every Harry Potter fan and it did accordingly well despite some controversy and minor performance issues at the launch. However, all of that seems to have been fixed now.

With the game in its current state, it might be a good time to pick it up again and play as one of the 4 houses in Hogwarts given the choices and replayability this game has to offer, not to mention all the different fantastic beasts you can free and tame, Hogwarts Legacy is one of the more entertaining games released in 2023.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The much-anticipated sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order finally came out in 2023 and we got to see how much Cal has grown up since the ending of the last game. The older Cal Kestis is now stronger and more mature. He will not hesitate to kill his enemies if it is for the sake of restoring the Jedi Order. This leads to some epic and incredibly cold scenes that are vastly different from the fallen Order. However, Cal must now face even stronger opponents and undertake even harder challenges to prove his mantle as a true Jedi.

The game improved on most of the mechanics the previous installation introduced and brought some fresh innovations to the gameplay with things like Force Dash, Mounts, and multiple stances to choose from.

Despite the performance issues it had at launch, the game has been patched to near perfection and is now standing proud in the list of best story games released in 2023.

Lies of P was the underdog of the 2023 games as people did not have many expectations from it regarding it as another souls-like. However, this game proved everyone wrong with its extremely fun mechanics that do take inspiration from other souls-like such as Sekiro and Dark Souls, but do not forget to add its fresh flavor to them.

Lies of P takes the beloved childhood story of Pinocchio and adds a dark twist to it featuring several classical characters in the game’s campaign. With this game, all the Souls veterans will feel right at home and the newcomers will find themselves becoming fond of this genre.
