Matilda K. Rose, aka Sasquatch, is the leader of the Animals gang. Sasquatch has a hulking build, powerful cybernetic enhancements, and specializes in melee combat while wielding a massive Sledgehammer. She and her pack of elite fighters act as private security for NetWatch agent Bryce Mosely, as he executes his operation against the Voodoo Boys from the abandoned Grand Imperial Mall (GIM) in Pacifica. The Sasquatch is an especially strong boss during the early game and can be a bit annoying for players who are new to Cyberpunk 2077. This brief guide will shed light on how to defeat Sasquatch in Cyberpunk 2077.
You (V) face Sasquatch during the main job “I Walk the Line” in which you cooperate with the Voodoo Boys to eliminate Bryce Mosely in the GIM in exchange for meeting their leader Maman Brigitte and hopefully getting some help in removing the Relic. You will see Sasquatch waiting for you near the movie theatre entrance after you jack into the van and move past the rest of the animals in the Atrium. If an alert has been triggered before you reach the movie theater, Bryce (the NetWatch Netrunner) will have already shut the gates and Sasquatch will charge at you immediately. If you were able to come this far through the GIM undetected, you can sneak past Sasquatch and completely avoid the boss fight, however, if you get detected by Sasquatch, the gates to the theater will close and you will have to go through with the fight.
Sasquatch Cyberware and Attacks
Sasquatch has tons of combat cyberware under that hulking build which is geared to augment her melee combat prowess. To be able to easily defeat Sasquatch in Cyberpunk 2077, you will need to familiarize yourself with all her tactics. Key implants include:
- Berserk – As the name implies, once active, the user enters a state of rage, becomes more aggressive, and takes less damage.
- Juice Tank (Crystal on Back) – This tank is filled with a fluid that helps regulate hormones and neural activity, thereby ensuring greater strength and regeneration during a fight.
- Kerenzikov – A reflex booster that allows its user to dodge incoming projectiles, i.e., grenades and bullets. Best countered by using blades or something with lots of spread like a shotgun.
- Sandevistan – A reflex booster that allows users to move several times faster than any object in their surroundings, enabling them to dodge projectiles and quickly close in on the target, making it ideal for operators that prefer melee combat.
With a build like that, most of Sasquatch’s attack patterns are melee-oriented and involve charging towards you at high speed. If she has her sledgehammer, she will close in on you to perform combos that involve slow but powerful sledgehammer attacks, however, once disarmed, she will center on using kicks and fists.
Strategies to Defeat Sasquatch
Sasquatch will try to leverage her cyberware to close the gap quickly and deliver a strong attack with her hammer, you can dash backward or to the side to dodge the attack. She can also throw her hammer at you which can knock you down, after which she can grab you and attempt to hack you, the breach will only cause slight visual disorientation as Placide will fight against the breach.
It is best to prioritize destroying the purple crystal on Sasquatch’s back as it gives her regenerative capabilities and additional strength. If you have a net-runner build, then reboot optics or short-circuit hack are options to stun her while you use a high-powered rifle to destroy the juice tank/crystal before you directly engage. Sasquatch is also weak to fire, so you can use incendiary grenades, thermal monowire, or mantis blades to inflict more damage with each attack.
Given Sasquatch’s proficiency in melee combat and ability to easily knock you down, your best strategy is to utilize ranged weapons and concentrate fire on the head. Incorporating evasive maneuvers such as dashing backward and sideways to avoid charges, coupled with ranged attacks, will enable you to swiftly defeat Sasquatch in Cyberpunk 2077.
